Joe Torre is slipping

I am a huge Yankee fan and I loved Joe Torre, but when the end was near I knew it was time for him to go. I have noticed several things the Dodgers are doing and I am wondering where the "tough no nonsense" Joe Torre is? In watching the Dodgers I noticed the sloppyness the players show. When Manny was traded to the Dodgers wasnt there a demand for Manny to cut his hair and shave to follow the dress code? Manny now has longer hair then when he started with the Dodgers and his facial hair looks like that of a 17 year old kid that refuses to shave. Manny showboats still to this day. Manny has to pose whenever he hits the ball even if its a pop up to right field or whether its a bomb to left center. I know this all seems like nonsense, but its not! Rules are rules and Manny has created a leeway for the other players to start doing what they want also. Manny is Manny, but when you watch the game tonight, notice how the other players are also doing many of the similare things. Faces not shaved, hustle not being there. Manny is a disease that has not only infected a good Dodgers team, but also a manager who is supposed to be a no nonsense type.

Joe Torre doesnt care anymore. This Dodgers team has the potential to be a great team. They are solid in the pitching from starting pitching down to their closer. Their defense is very good and they have a very good offense. He built up a reputation in New York after being a very unsuccessful manager with several teams. His winning percentage with the Mets was a dismal .405, Braves had a ok but not great .529 record, and with the Cardinals a .498 record. he then went to the Yankees and produced a great .605 record with 6 AL Championships and 4 World Series Titles. This was done with a unlimited budget. After the reality wore off on his managing techniques, the Yankees missed the playoffs after early exits from the postseason. In addition he broke the code of leaving the locker room private with his book. Anyone that read his book found out things about several players that should have never been out. The locker room is sacred. Once again a example of Torre losing it. With the Dodgers he has a .552 winning percentage with the final results still pending. The Dodgers almost blew a huge division lead in a division that they stood out in all year.

The bottomline is the phrase "right place at the right time" is Joe Torre's life. He is not a great manager, he is below average. He has not control over his team and when you are done playing for him you need to watch your back because he has proven to be a sell out. The Dodgers will not get past the Phillies. I believe that the team the Yankees put together in the 90s would have won with my father managing them. The base of the Yankees teams of the 90s was built with great draft picks as the core were career Yankees players, and then bigtime players were brough aboard to fill in the gaps. I notice a lot of similar things about the Dodgers. There are a lot of great young players on the team that came up through the system. Joe Torre will not get the best of this team. The next manager of the Dodgers with have a great team and will produce better results. It irks me when I see no enforcement of what was laid out for Manny when he came aboard. Pay attention to the other players, the Manny disease is infecting the entire team!
